Bio and Links
Bio Photo I enjoy genealogy with my main lines being Merritt & Cagle and all associated names that go with them. Merritt is out of Cannon County/Dekalb County, Tennessee and Cagle is out of McNairy County, Tennessee.

I think Find A Grave is an excellent site and a fantastic idea. I have found many graves that I have needed on the site and I hope others find the ones I have posted useful.

I love nature and have 12 cats, two koi ponds, feed many mallard ducks, birds, squirrels and whatever else is hungry.

Merritt Connection
Robie,
I am Jack Merritt Jr.'s only daughter, b. 1925 d. 1967. I was wondering what your connection was and if you had any info on him. He died from Hodgkin's Disease when I was only 6 and my mom had a very hard time talking about him so I know just bits and pieces. She passed in 2008, very suddenly, and I'm left with very little to tell my daughter and my grandchildren. Thanks in advance for anything you might have.

RE: Earl B. Manes
It was my pleasure. I read about his death on a spreadsheet for Cottage Hill Cemetary. Such a tragedy for a little boy.

I believe his parents are Henry and Sarah, not the Joshua and Annie that you requested. My James was married in Ray County, MO. The 1850 census puts him also in that county. Your James was in Jackson County, TN in 1850. Here are the census records I found:

James D. Branch
Robie,

I think James D. Branch died in 1890. He is in the 1880 census in Montogmery,Mississippi with S.A.Branch (Selia Pepper Gore Branch). He is my 3r-great uncle and I too have done much research on this family. In fact, much of your information is probably from my records.

RE: Mary Caroline Harris McGhee
I have Mary Caroline “Polly” Harris (1788-1868) married to Zera McGhee (1781-1836). Zera and Polly are my 3x great-grandparents.
Mary (Polly) is the daughter of Peter (1751-1832) and Honour Harris (1753-1835).
Polly had a brother Nehemiah Harris (1784-1825), whom she and Zera named their first child after. He was Nehemiah Harris McGhee (1805-1859).
She also had a brother and a son both named Samuel
a sister and a daughter both named Sarah
a brother and a son both named John
a brother William and one son William B., and another Calvin William (my 2x great-grandfather)

In Peter Harris’ will he did not mention any of his daughters. He asked that his possessions be sold and the proceeds be divided among his children. The list of what was sold and to whom, showed Zera purchased a few items.

I hope this helps.
