A Virtual Cemetery created by Garth Woodward

-RIEL REBELLION / NORTH WEST REBELLION 1885 / North West Field Force (N.W.F.F.)

I sometimes come across graves or obituaries for men who were in the 1885 Riel Rebellion, also called the North West Rebellion (or Northwest Rebellion), and men who served in the North West Field Force (N.W.F.F.). The North West Field Force (N.W.F.F.) was created in 1885 and may have continued for some years afterwards, so possibly not all members of the N.W.F.F. were in the 1885 Riel Rebellion. Some of these names I found when working on the Brookside Cemetery in Winnipeg, some names are from searches of the Winnipeg Free Press Archives website, and some I found by doing Google searches of the findagrave.com website. Approximately 5,000 men were involved in Riel Rebellion / 1885 Northwest Rebellion. They were mostly from Ontario and western Canada. I am interested in adding people involved on both sides of the conflict. I will also add any burials for those involved in the 1870 Red River Rebellion / First Riel Rebellion. I have also added a very small number of other military related burials to this Virtual Cemetery - the Boxer Rebellion in China, the Zulu War in Africa, who had veterans who eventually were buried in Manitoba.
