Tom Payne
Tom J. Payne, 89, a resident of Beverly Health and Rehabilitation in Fredonia, died Wednesday, Nov. 19, 1997.

He was born in Amoret, Mo., July 21, 1908, to James E. and Sadie M. (Mills) Payne.

A retired freight loader for Archer-Daniels-Midland Co., he also worked part time as a broom maker with J.W. Hardy, and was a lawn care specialist.

On Nov. 1, 1933, he married Ada M. Cather, and she died Sept. 15, 1983.

He was a member of the First Christian Church in Fredonia.

Survivors are one son, Howard Payne of Fredonia; one daughter, Vina Carr of Mound City; seven grandchildren, and eight great grandchildren. Two great-grandchildren preceded him in death.

Graveside services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, Nov. 21, at Weakley Cemetery near New Albany. Rev. Jim Ward of the First Christian Church will officiate. Timmons Funeral Home, Fredonia, is in charge of arrangements.

Friends may call at the funeral until 8 p.m. today. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. today.

Memorials contributions may be made to the church.
