TERRE HAUTE — Harold W. Atterson, 80, of West Terre Haute, passed away at 4:30 p.m. Monday, Oct. 29, 2012, in his residence. He retired from Public Service Indiana in 1994 after many years of service. He was born Dec. 4, 1931, in Helen, W. VA., to William Alexander Atterson and Mildred Jonann Miller Atterson.

Survivors include his wife, Selma Margaret McClain Atterson, whom he married on Sept. 29, 1951, in Terre Haute; a daughter, Sarah Ann Winn; two sons, Steven J. Atterson and Monty Ray Atterson; a daughter-in-law, Jackie Atterson; nine grandchildren, Amy Rogers, Steven Atterson, Nicole Atterson, Stephanie Allen, Jonathan Winn, Derek Atterson, Casey Atterson, Wesley Cox, and Andie Lancaster; 11 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a son, Harold "Woody" Atterson.

Harold was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War and a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars.

Private family services were held Friday, Nov. 2, 2012, in Fitzpatrick Funeral Home, in West Terre Haute, with the Rev. Dennis Leek officiating and burial in Bethesda Memorial Park.
