Mr. Bell was born Aug. 13, 1910, at Long Run, Pendleton County, a son of the late Martin Michael and Lettie Susan Arbogast Bell.
On Dec. 14, 1930 he was married to Nela Geneva Mallow, who preceded in death Sept. 19, 1983.
Surviving are seven daughters, Mrs. Earl (Mamion) Day, Louisville, Ohio, Mrs. Roy (Wanda) Wegman, Broadway, Va., Mrs. John (Louise) Higgins, Mrs. Gerald (Joy) Day, Mrs. Hoy (Neva) Riley, Mrs. Carl (Lettie) See and Mrs. Troy (Nila) Phillips, all of Elkins; five sons, Delano B. "Jake" Bell, Michael I. Bell and Ivan C. Bell, all of Elkins, Don H. Bell, Anchorage, Alas. and Jack D. Bell, Washington, D.C.; and 27 grandchildren, 44 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren.
He was the last surviving member of his immediate family having been preceded in death by six sisters, Annie Bell, Sarah Ivy Kyle, Dora "Dovie" Harris, Dairie Harper, Lula Isner and Rachel Throp; five brothers, James Garfield, Cletus, Minor V., Adam Coy and Thomas Garber Bell; two grandchildren, Earl Day, Jr. and Rebecca Lynn Riley; and one great-grandchild, Jeremy Hayes.
Mr. Bell attended the schools of Pendleton County, and was in the Civilian Conservation Corps Company 566, Camp F-2 during 1935-1937 at Alpena.
He started working in the Hickory Lick Mines on Point Mountain at Monterville in 1941, having worked there for over 20 years.
He was a member of the Bethleham Mining Local Union 6915, and was a farmer until 1979 when he became disabled due to illness.
He was a member of the Dunkard Brethren Church.
Friends may call at the Tomblyn Funeral Home in Elkins Tuesday from 5-9 p.m.
Funeral services will be held in the funeral home chapel Wednesday at 2 p.m. with Brother Jacob Neff and Brother Eldon Mallow officiating.
Interment will follow in the Bell Cemetery at Kelly Mountain.
