Nila Glee Phillips, age 77 years, a resident of the Glenmore Community, Elkins, departed this life Friday afternoon, October 7, 2022 suddenly from a massive heart attack. She was born March 23, 1945 at Elkins, a daughter of the late Martin B. "Boss" and Nela Mallow Bell. On January 9, 1965 at Elkins, she was united in marriage to the late Troy Wilbur Phillips. She is survived by three sisters, Mamion Day of Louisville, OH, Louise Higgins and Joy Day, both of Elkins; one brother, Don Bell and wife Loretta of Anchorage, AK. Also surviving are several nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews, who loved her very much. She was also preceded in death by four brothers, Delano Bell, Michael Bell, Ivan Bell and Jack Bell; three sisters, Neva Riley, Wanda Wegman and Lettie See. Nila attended the schools of Randolph County and was a 1962 graduate of Elkins High School. She worked at GC Murphy's, HP, Garden-Fresh stores and Lewis Enterprises for ten years. She was devoted to her Bible and its teachings and was a member of the Belington Church of Christ. She took care of her husband for several years during his illness and missed him deeply after his passing. She loved her extended family, yard sales, the forest festival and helping others.
Friends may call from 10:00 am until 12:00 pm Saturday, October 15, 2022 at the Tomblyn Funeral Home in Elkins. A funeral service will be held at 12:00 pm Saturday with Evangelist Mike Phillips officiating. Interment will follow in the Bell Cemetery at Kelly Mountain. Memorial contributions may be made to the Belington Church of Christ, P. O. Box 444, Belington, WV 26250 in memory of Nila.
