MISS JENNIE FOX FOUND DEAD IN HER KITCHEN

Two Burners on Stove Emitting Gas When Body is Discovered by Friend Searching for Her.

Miss Jennie Fox, a seamstress about 50 years of age, was found dead in the kitchen of her flat at 608 South Thirtieth street about 3 o'clock yesterday afternoon. Death was thought to be due to gas asphyxiation.

Miss Fox had been invited to dinner at the home of Timothy Sullivan, 718 South Thirtieth street. When she did not appear at the appointed time, Mr. Sullivan went to her residence to bring her. Arriving there he was unable to gain any response to repeated summons at the door. Entrance was finally effected by unlocking the rear door with a master key, and the woman was found lying the floor of her kitchen, quite dead. Two jets in the gas stove were open and the rooms were filled with gas, but a kerosene lamp, burning on a table, had failed to cause an explosion.

No motive is known to the friends of the deceased which would actuate self-destruction. Coroner Crosby was summoned and took charge of the remains. He will hold an inquest. The dead woman is survived by a sister in Los Angeles and one in Minneapolis.
