Born April 24, 1924, in Hampshire County, he was the son of the late Elson Herbert and Ethel Dora (DeHaven) Eaton.
He was of the Protestant faith.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving as a truck driver in the South Pacific during World War II.
He retired from Corning Glass of Martinsburg as a tool and die maker (machinist). He was proficient in carpentry and mechanical skills and was always ready and willing to help family members and neighbors when needed.
Claude is survived by his wife of 69 years; a daughter; a brother; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by four brothers, Cordell, Charles, Donnie and Delbert; and two sisters, Louwilda and Claudine.
Funeral services will be held at noon Friday, Nov. 9, at Brown Funeral Home South Berkeley Chapel in Inwood with the Rev. Susan Quass, pastor of the Tuscarora Presbyterian Church, officiating. Military graveside services will be held at Rosedale Cemetery.
Family will receive friends two hours prior to services on Friday.
