Calvin was married at the time of his death at age 25 in a tragic accident in Mauch Chunk (now Jim Thorpe), PA. From a newspaper account of 1 May 1913 (Allentown Morning Call) it is reported he died of asphyxiation during a stay at a hotel in Mauch Chunk where he had gone to interview for a job. The newspaper reports he likely hit a button for the gas jet before going to bed and was found dead in his bed the next morning by the hotel owner and clerk when he did not come down for breakfast.
It is noted the article reports Calvin's name as Charles Eberts, but the names of his survivors include the parents and siblings of Calvin Ebert, so the assumption is the newspaper misreported Calvin's name.
No marker was made for Calvin's grave in the cemetery.
