Believed to have been a soldier of the American Revolution.

There is some confusion about his date of birth: An Aaron Derby was born Nov, 1759 to Amos & Helen at Concord.

A local history* states he was born at Concord on Nov 20, 1761, and was brother to Samuel who had moved to Greenfield and died in Waltham. He is said to have been a Revolutionary soldier, but no record of service can be found as his name does not appear on the ro[l]ls at the State House.

He and "Polley" Phillips were married by Rev. John Payson at Fitchburg on Jan. 8, 1789.

The death record indicates he was a widower, aged 86 years. It does not indicate his place of birth, nor names of parents.
