John Hoyt Dies
John E. Hoyt, sr.,[sic] 74, of Fredonia township, died suddenly at his home this morning at 9:15. The remains were removed to the Court Funeral home, pending the funeral arrangements. Mr. Hoyt was a former Supervisor of Fredonia township.

Funeral Services Set Saturday For John Hoyt
---Funeral services for John Elmer Hoyt, who died suddenly yesterday morning about 9:15 at his home in Fredonia township, will be held Saturday at 2 p. m. from the Court funeral home.
---The Rev. Verne T. Palmiter of the Ellis Corners United Evangelical church will officiate, and burial will be made in the family plot in the Houston cemetery.
---Mr. Hoyt, who had been in failing health for the past two years, died of a coronary thrombosis, according to Ralph Callahan, coroner from Battle Creek.
---He was born March 3, 1881 in Fredonia township, the son of Samuel and Mary (Thuma) Hoyt. He lived his entire life in this vicinity. Mr. Hoyt was a farmer and a county supervisor from 1945 until 1953. He previously served for many years as township treasurer and owned and operated the Ellis Corners grocery. He was employed for several years at the Hillabrant grocery in Marshall. He was a member of the Ellis Corners Evangelical church, the Sons of Union Veterans and the Fredonia Grange.
---He was married to the former Ethel Clark in Fredonia Feb. 27, 1907, who survives, together with four daughters, Mrs. Earl (Martha) Ostrander, Battle Creek; Mrs. Kenneth (Marjorie) Davis, Albion; Mrs. Thomas (Donna) Ferrill, Detroit; Mrs. Russell (Ruth) Rocho, Ceresco; four sons, Samuel Hoyt, Utica, Mich.; John Hoyt, Jr., Fredonia; Frank Hoyt, Salem, Iowa; Sgt. Howard Hoyt, U.S. Army, Ft. Lewis, Wash.; 32 grandchildren; one sister, Mrs. Charles Hartwell, Puenta, Calif.; and several nieces and nephews. One son, Donald, died in 1917.

Funeral services for John E. Hoyt, of Fredonia township, who died at his home on Wednesday were held Saturday at 2 p.m. from the Court funeral home with the Rev. Verne Palmiter of the Ellis Corners United Bretheren[sic] Evanglical church officiating. Paul A. Humiston was organist. Interment followed in the family plot in the Houston cemetery in Fredonia township. Pall bearers were Carl Hoyt, Thomas Hoyt, Don Hoyt, Thomas Ferrill, Earle Ostrander and Russell Rocho.

Ellis Corners
---Mr. and Mrs. Howard Sanders, Vera Hoyt and Mr. and Mr.[sic] Jake Haag, of Brooklyn, Michigan, attended the funeral of their uncle John Hoyt Saturday afternoon and were supper guests of Mrs. Marguerite Rollins as were also Mr. and Mrs. Geo. Sexton and family.
---Sgt. Howard Hoyt left Monday morning for Fort Lewis Washington after being called here by the death of his father, John Hoyt. Mr. and Mrs. Frank Hoyt returned to Salem Iowa on Tuesday.
