He served as a private in the Georgia Militia. He received 287 1/2 acres of bounty land along the banks of the O'Hoopee River in old Washington County (now Emanuel County) and received a pension for his services. He came to the area from Effingham County, Georgia, from where he possibly served.

Burial place unknown, but probably in vicinity of Little O'Hoopee River bridge. A DAR marker is now in Moore Family Cemetery near Nunez.
