Funeral services will be held Friday, Oct. 19, at 10 a.m. in the Fifth Ward Church of Christ, 4308 Stonewall at Waco Street, in Houston, with Brother Gary Smith, Minister and Brother Alford Powers, Master of Ceremony. A tribute service and viewing will be held at 3:00 in the afternoon in Moore's Angelic Funeral Chapel, 406 Monroe St., in Teague. Interment will be in the Grove Island Cemetery in Teague.
Eula Mae (Powers) Clemons was the seventh child of George and Mary Etta Powers and was born in Freestone County, on Feb. 9, 1920. She grew up in Freestone County and completed her education at Furney Richardson High School with the Class of 1940. She was introduced to the Gospel of Christ by her brother, Emerson Powers, and accepted and obeyed the gospel at an early age in the Furney Richardson Church of Christ.
Eula Mae married William Clemons on Aug. 11, 1940, and they were married for 62 years. By the grace of God, seven children were born to this union: William, Robert, Lurlene, Roy, Barbara, Lula and Albert. As a homemaker, Eula Mae wore many hats for her family that included: caretaker, seamstress, barber and beautician.
She was an exceptional cook. In 1967, she became employed at the Mexia State School, where she worked for more than fourteen years before her retirement in 1981.
She was preceded in death by her parents: George and Mary Etta Powers; her husband, William Clemons; her son, William H. Clemons; and her siblings: Willie, Leonard, Jacy, Emerson, Zerlene, Leslie and Lee Milton.
