Joyce "Jay" Gross, 68 of West Paducah died Friday, June 22, 2012 at 11:11 a.m. at Western Baptist Hospital. Jay was a 43 year member of Southland Baptist Temple, where he taught Sunday School, was a member of the choir, and worked with the bus ministry. He was a member of the auxiliary police, Administrator with U.S. Army Reserve where he served for twenty-three years and attained the rank of E-7, Sgt First Class. Jay was a graduate of Lone Oak High School, an avid UK basketball fan, enjoyed woodworking, and became a keen watcher of birds, especially blue birds and cardinals.

Survivors include wife of forty-three years, Shelby Jean Carter Gross, one daughter, Fay Jean (Don) Fisher, Warsaw, MO, three sons, Robert (Debbie) Edmonds, Paducah, KY, Ray Dean (Cheryl) Edmonds , Glen Allen, VA, Carter (Brenda) Edmonds, Lebanon, TN, two sisters, Janice Dillworth and Angela (Tom) Peeler both of Paducah, KY, one brother, J.H. (Barbara) Gross, Paducah, KY, eight grandchildren, Preston Edmonds, Candyce Heflin, Christen Green, Whitney Hayes, Ashley Washington, Brandon Fisher, Cortny Edmonds and Cole Edmonds, nine great-grandchildren, Lance, Presley, Haley, Addyson, Carter, Connelly, Lexie, Elijah and Anna, several nieces and nephews.

Preceding in death were parents; John Henry & Inez Duncan Gross, three sisters, Betty Lou Bearden, Kathleen Gross, Varice Laynette Gross and one brother, Kenneth Gross.

Services will be held Wednesday, June 27, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. with Revs. Harold Council and Topper Council officiating. Burial will follow at Kentucky Veterans Cemetery West, Hopkinsville, KY with military honors. Milner & Orr Funeral Home of Paducah is in charge of arrangements.
