She was born on March 1, 1927 in Selma, the daughter of Edgar Ray and Mabel M. (Cline) Sutton.
Rosie attended Muncie Central High School and later attended Amber's Beauty School. She married the love of her life, John Thomas Cole, Sr., and they enjoyed 59 years of marriage prior to his passing in 2003. Mrs. Cole had been a homemaker most of her life and she was co-owner of Johnnies Alignment Service along with her husband. To say she enjoyed bowling was an understatement. She enjoyed playing pool, pitching horseshoes and playing card games like Poker, Euchre, Rummy and Texas Holdem. Rosie also liked light houses.
Surviving are two daughters, Carolyn and Jonna; three grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; two step great-granddaughters; one brother, Edgar Ray "Bud" Sutton; one sister-in-law, Ruth King; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Besides her husband, John, she is preceded in death by her parents; one son, John "Tom" Cole, Jr. in 1967; one grandson, Shaun T. Ripley in 2002; and two sisters, Berneda McCord and Jeanne Babbitt.
Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Saturday at the Parson Mortuary with Pastor James Ballenger officiating. Burial will follow at the Elm Ridge Memorial Park Cemetery. Friends may call from 4-7 p.m. Friday and from 12-1 p.m. Saturday at the Parson Mortuary.
