Gene entered this life on May 14, 1926 in Tuscumbia, Alabama to the union of the late Charles Graham and Ada Bell (Posey) Watson. In the early 1930's he moved with his family to Earl, Arkansas. He served his country faithfully in the United States Army during WW-II. After being honorably discharged he returned home to Arkansas. In 1947 at the age of twenty-one, Gene surrendered to the calling of God and became an Evangelist. In 1977 he moved to Blue Springs, Missouri where he worked as a custodian at Blue Springs High School. In 1988 he moved to Noel, Missouri and in 1997 he was ordained as a Full Gospel Minister. He pastored churches in Sulphur Springs, Arkansas and Noel, Missouri.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Bernice (Turpin) Watson; a daughter, Bonnie Horn; two sisters; and three brothers.
Gene is survived by his wife of thirty-five years, Patricia Watson of the home, whom he married on April 8, 1977 in Miami, Oklahoma. Additional survivors include a son, Charles William Watson of Lee's Summit, Missouri; an adopted daughter, Kimberly Taff and husband, Wade, of Jay, Oklahoma; three grandchildren, Chris Horn of New Orleans, Louisiana, Katie Shaw of the state of Georgia and Lauren Watson of Lee's Summit, Missouri; one great granddaughter, Julia Horn; four brothers, Ray and Paul Watson both of Holden, Missouri and Kenneth and Phil Watson both of Clarksville, Arkansas; a sister, Gloria Willis also of Clarksville, Arkansas; several nieces and nephews; as well as a host of other family and friends.
Funeral services for Mr. Watson are 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, November 28, 2012 at Roller-Cox Funeral Home in Clarksville, Arkansas. Burial will follow in the Russell Cemetery in Ozone, Arkansas. The family will receive friends on Monday evening, November 26, 2012 from 5-7:00 p.m. in the Noel Chapel of the Ozark Funeral Homes.
