Queen Kelty married Charles Benjamin "Ben" Riesland on April 28, 1903. He was born March 7, 1877 in Two Rivers, Wisconsin the son of Frederick and Caroline (Weisenborn) Riesland. Ben died February 7, 1947 in San Bernardino, California.

Queen and Ben had two children:

Carl B. (Eleanor Kinney)
Mary Scott (Frank William King)

The couple divorced in 1920 in Clackamas County, Oregon.

On August 20, 1928, Queen married her high school sweetheart Willis A. Platts in Portland, Oregon. At that time he was a Captain in the US Army and had served during the Spanish American War and World Wars I. Just prior to the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor the Platts were living Honolulu where Willis was stationed. As World War II got underway, he helped activate the Portland Army Air Base by which time he had achieved the rank of Colonel. He served as the base Quartermaster.

Death Takes Mrs. Platts – Service Scheduled for 2:30 Friday

Funeral service for Mrs. Emily Queen Kelty Platts, 69, a member of the pioneer Kelty family of Yamhill county, will be conducted by Rev. R. T. T. Hicks at Finley's Rose chapel at 2:30 p.m. Friday.

Mrs. Platts died Sunday. Her address was 2212 N.E. Hancock Street. She was the widow of Col. Willis A. Platts, U.S. Army, who died in 1945, and the sister of the late Paul R. Kelty, editor of The Oregonian.

She was born at Lafayette and was a daughter of James Monroe Kelty and Sarah Maria Scott Kelty, who came to Oregon in 1852. The Keltys moved to Portland while Mrs. Platts was a young girl. She attended the Stephens and North Central grade schools and was the first student editor of the Cardinal, the old Portland high school publication.

Mrs. Platts formerly was married to Ben Riesland. She was divorced in 1920, and in 1928 was married to Colonel Platts at that time a captain stationed at Vancouver barracks. During the war Colonel Platts was Quartermaster at the Portland Army Air Base.

She is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Mary Riesland King, Chicago; a sister, Mrs. Edith M. Alderman, Portland; two grandchildren, Kathleen and Terrence King; a niece, Dr. Pauline Alderman, Los Angeles; and two nephews, Eugene S. Kelty, Rockaway, and Henry Alderman, Portland.
