Michael McCloskey was born September 26, 1954 in Baltimore, MD., second son to Rosemarie and Kenneth G. McCloskey. Mike, his brother Bill and their dog "Blackie" spent their younger days in Woodlawn, MD before moving out to Ellicott City in 1968. Michael attended Cardinal Gibbons High School where he was a lineman on the football team. He later attended Western Maryland College and graduated in 1976 with a bachelors degree, summa cum laude in history. Mike played for the Green Terrors in football also intramural sports and was a member of the Gamma Beta Chi fraternity. That's where he picked up his nickname "Mad Dog", which he didn't mind at all, unless you called him that in front of his mother.

After graduation Mike travelled to Jackson Hole, Wyoming where he gained employment as a roughneck on a local oil rig for the summer. Upon return home, Mike was hired by MKSAC in Columbia MD as a shipping & receiving manager. In 1983 Mike became employed by Globe Screen Printing of Baltimore in the same position. By 1987 Michael decided to add to his education and attended Baltimore Culinary Arts College and graduated in 1989. Mike was a very worthy joke teller and could make you laugh at any time. He excelled playing chess & poker, he had great taste and knowledge in music and films, and loved sports, especially horse racing. Mike attended many Preakness days with his friends and family. He was an avid Baltimore Colts, and Baltimore Ravens fan, plus a lifelong Baltimore Orioles fan and attended many games of these teams over the years.

In 1990 Michael changed career becoming the manager of the Lucky's Store and sandwich shop in Arbutus, MD where he worked until his sudden passing on December 4, 1998. Mike was 44 years of age.
