James was baptized on 5 Aug 1779 at Belchertown, MA to Elijah Parker to a second wife whose name is not yet known. There is conjecture her maiden name may have been Belknap, or that she was Mary Newton, but neither claim has been substantiated. James trail can be traced with other family from Belchertown, MA to Otsego Co., NY to Ontario Co., NY to Campbell Co., KY. It isn't known if he died there or continued on to Spencer Co., IN with some of his children.

It is looking like James was married twice. James married first Betsy Brown (abt 1779 CT - 15 Jul 1808), daughter of Jacob Brown and Lucy Russell. James and Betsy were the parents of three children: Anna Parker second wife of Artemus Howe, who was married first to Anna's cousin Fannie Parker, daughter of Timothy Parker and Eunice Thompson; Lucy Parker who married Hugh Richardson on 21 Jan 1817 in Campbell Co., KY; and James Parker, who married first 21 Sep 1826 Campbell Co., KY Caroline Clark who was the mother of his children, and married second Christina Amick.

After Betsey's death, James married second Sarah Hobbs, by whom he had the following children: Louisa Parker, who married first Robert B Graham and second Samuel Beckley; Henry Nelson Parker, who married Mary Ann Stillwell ; Parley Parker who married Eliza Jane Rust; Charles Wesley Parker who married Marinda Drake; Lorenzo Dow Parker; Orison Parker; and Russell Parker. Of the latter three children nothing more is known.

There are two separate claims for the death of James: on 27 Sep 1834 in Campbell Co., KY or on 7 Feb 1837 in Spencer Co., IN. Neither claim has supporting documentation that has been found as yet.

Update - portions of a will dated 1837 in Indiana have recently surfaced. This lends some credence to the 1837/Indiana death mentioned above.

Update - There is a Parker Cemetery in Grandview IN where he may be buried. I had opportunity to search for this cemetery, but did not find it.
