The obituary of Virgie (Hampton) Back (original source unknown):

Virgie Hampton Back

Virgie Hampton Back was born August 17, 1910, deceased June 11, 1977. She was the daughter of Solomon and Dora Dixon Hampton. On August 24, 1935 she was married to Dawson D. Back. To this union was born four children, Dawson D. Back, Jr., Teddy Back, Don K. Back and Lois A. Caldwell. She is survived by her husband and four children and one brother, Lloyd Hampton, three sisters, Stella Collins, Essie Caudill and Edna Jean Hampton. Seven grandchildren and a host of friends and relatives. Virgie was a school teacher for many years in Letcher County and had many friends too numerous to begin to mention. To know Virgie was to love her. She was a loving, kind, companion, mother, neighbor and friend, and will be greatly missed by many. I was priviledged to visit with Virgie not many days before she passed on and it was an inspiration to talk to her. She told me of her stay in the hospital and how she looked and saw Jesus standing near her. She was trying so hard to touch him but He said not now. At his presence she was made satisfied in her soul that she had a home in Heaven. She said she had prayed for so long, but had not been made satisfied until he came to her there. She was rejoicing and could be heard by those present. Now Virgie has gone on to be under the altar of God, there to await the redemption of the Body. Gone from a world of trouble to a place of rest. Oh! how I trust that Dawson, her children, relatives and friends will gaze upon that one that brought Virgie sweet relief, that they too may find the Peace that she found and be able to say from their heart as Virgie said to me: Heaven is mine when this life is over. There could be many books written of the good things and deeds of Virgie, but now the book of life has been closed but the sweet and cherished memories will linger on in the Hearts of all that knew her. Let us all strive to meet in Heaven where partings will be no more. May God Bless You All.
