Luther was the son of Richard and Orry Wood Middaugh. He was born in Waseca, Minnesota on April 27, 1881. Luther was a clerk for the Post Office in Waseca around 1900. Dec 21, 1905 he married Pearl Martin in Cass County, North Dakota. They moved to Moorehead, Minnesota where he worked for a railroad. By 1920, they had settled in Fargo, North Dakota. Luther died in Fargo on June 25, 1957. Pearl lived until 1975.
