Last Rites Held Today For Mrs. S.D. Smith

Funeral services for Mrs. S.D. Smith were held this afternoon at 2:30, at the Methodist Episcopal church, by Rev. J.M. Dickey and Rev, G.C. Robberson. Members of Faith Rebekah lodge, to which the deceased had belonged and in which she took an active interest, attended in a body.
Mrs. Lena Belle Smith, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Labon Aubushon, was born April 6th, 1875 an died at her home in this city Septmember 29th, after months of patient suffering. All that love and medical science had was given her, but it all proved of no avail. She bore her pain in a queit manner and without complaint with a bravery that won the admiration of all. She made and held many and lasting friendships with her queit charm and pleasant, cheery ways, For the past few years Mrs Smith has owned and successfully operated "Belle's Style Shop" a ladies ready-to-wear store, and in the management of this, proved to be a far-sighted and intellitent buisiness woman.
She joined the United Brethren church in early childhood, later uniting with the Methodist church at Victor, Colorado. After a few years she transferred her membership to the M. E. church of Red Cloud, choir and the Woman's Home Missionary Society, seldom missing a church or prayer service until prevented by ill health.
On September 29th, 1894 she was united in marriage with Richard A. Keagle who preceded her in death on January 13th, 1927. To this union two daughters were born, now Mrs. Grave Hudson and Mrs. Gladys Caraker, of Phoenix, Arizona. Besides her daughters and their husbands, she leaves four brothers, Will of North Branch, Kansas; Lewis and John of this place; Edward of Stapleton and Mrs. Blanche Buckles, also of Red Cloud, besides a host of other reatives and friends who mourn her passing. On March 16th, 1930 she was united in marriage to S. D. Smith, and to the breaved relatives the tendrest of sympathy is extended.
