Gary R. Abbott, 63, passed away surrounded by his loving family December 6, 2012.

Born in Akron July 22, 1949, he attended the "three G's" – Glover, Goodrich and Garfield.

Gary was a pipefitter, retired from Local 219, and also a 32nd Degree Mason. Blessed with a great sense of humor, Gary was always the life of the party. Everyone will miss "The Dude".

Preceded in death by father, Charles; and brother, Bob, he leaves behind mother, Emily; wife, Darlene; son, Greg; daughters, Danielle Spencer (Taurus), Courtney (David Clark); grandchildren, Collin, Keagan, Darian, Damitri, Josh, and grandson due in April; brother, Tom (Alice); sister, Sharon; and many nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, December 12, 11 a.m. at Hopkins Lawver Funeral Home, 547 Canton Road, Akron, Ohio 44312, with Rev. Nan Morgan of S. Arlington U.M.C. officiating. Burial will follow at Hillside Memorial Park, where Masonic services will be conducted. Friends may call at the funeral home from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, and from 10 a.m. until service time Wednesday.
