Doris G. "Dorie" Walker, 76, Bellwood, died early Sunday morning at Epworth Manor, Tyrone.
She was born in Bellwood, daughter of the late Clarence and Jane (Bowers) Bricker. She married Charles R. Walker on Aug. 8, 1953, in Bellwood, and he died June 23, 2003.
Surviving are two sons: Terry (Kathleen) of Tipton and Steve (Kelly) of Tyrone; a daughter, Tami (James) Kennedy of Whiting, N.J.; 10 grandchildren; three great-grandsons; and a brother, Kenneth (Susan) Bricker of Penn Yan, N.Y.
Dorie retired as a secretary/receptionist at Blair Companies. She was a very active member of Logan's Valley Baptist Church, Bellwood, where she served as a deaconess, sang in the church choir and taught Sunday school and vacation Bible school. She was a volunteer at The Hope Center, Bellwood, and participated with her church Relay For Life team.
Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 12, 2012, at Jon C. Russin Funeral Home, Bellwood, where a funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 13, 2012, the Rev. Timothy Flanagan officiating. Interment will be at Blair Memorial Park, Antis Township.
The family suggests that contributions in Dorie's memory be made to Logan's Valley Baptist Church, earmarked for the church's Relay For Life team, or to The Hope Center, Bellwood.
