Mrs. Caroline DUGGAN died in 1938. Her obit was contributed to the Fayette County USGenWeb Project.(2)

One of Fayette county's oldest residents Mrs. Caroline Duggan, aged 94 years and nine days, and widow of Sergeant John Duggan of Civil war fame, died at 8:45 Sunday night, January 9, at the home of a daughter, Mrs. Mary M. Shaw, in Puritan.

Mrs. Duggan, despite her advanced age, had not been in failing health until recently. Her death came as a shock to her family and a wide legion of friends throughout the county. Her husband, Sergeant Duggan, who distinguished himself with glory with Co. G., 16th Regiment, Pennsylvania Volunteer Calvary, during the Civil war, died in 1910.

In addition to Mrs. Shaw she leaves the following children: Mrs. Hester McCoy, Uniontown; Mrs. Emily Brooks, Masontown; Mrs. Catherine Watkins, Masontown; John L., of McClellandtown; 25 grandchildren, 28 great grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren.

The body was removed this evening from the T. L. Sangston Funeral home in McClellandtown to the Shaw residence in Puritan where short services will be held at 2:30 Tuesday afternoon, with additional rites in the Church Hill Presbyterian church, McClellandtown. The Rev. David Hunter will officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
