Purl W. Jones, 76, Stanley, died Monday in a Rochester, Minn. hospital. His funeral will be Friday at 10am in Queen of the Most Holy Rosary Catholic Church with burial in the Fairview Cemetery, both Stanley.

He was born Oct. 11, 1912, at Stanley, the son of Tillman and Mary Jones. He was reared south of Beldon. He married Clara Schafer Sept. 21, 1940, at Reno, Nev. They started farming south of Blaisdell in 1944 and he farmed there all of his life.

He had served as director of the Stanley Farmers Credit Union Oil Co. for 24 years and served as its chairman for many years. He also served on the Mountrail County ASCS Committee, the FHA supervisory board, the Blaisdell Elevator Board, the McAlmond Township Board and the Wagner School District Board. He was a member of St. Margaret's Catholic Church, Blaisdell, and the Stanley Knights of Columbus.

Survivors: wife, Stanley; sons, Donavan, Clinton, Wis., Larry, Stanley, Leonard, Blaisdell; daughter, Judith Curl, Denver, 10 grandchildren; brother, Lloyd, Stanley; sister, Edna Jones, Portland.

The rosary will be recited at 7:30pm in the Springan Funeral Home, Stanley. Visitation will be until 7:30 tonight in the funeral home.
