J. H. GENTZLER PASSES.
Civil War Veteran Had Been a Resident of Liberal for Past 22 Years.

Jacob H. Gentzler, aged 88, a veteran of the Civil War, passed away at his home on North Sherman avenue this morning, Sept. 8. Mr. Gentzler's health had been failing for the past several years and he had been very low for several days.

He and his family had resided in and near Liberal for the past 22 years. His genial German disposition made him many friends in the town and country, who will regret to learn of his passing.

Besides his wife, Mr. Gentzler leaves 12 children: Mrs. Henrietta Cox and Nathan Gentzler, both of St. Louis; Henry Gentzler of Hugoton; Mrs. Bertha Miller of Cimarron; Mrs. Lydia Koppisch of Ingalls; Luther Gentzler of Wichita; Mrs. Jane Henry of Liberal; Jake Gentzler of Two Buttes; Geo. Gentzler of Lamar, Colo.; S. P. and Sam Gentzler of Liberal, and Dr. O. W. Gentzler of Hugoton. A daughter, Mrs. Scott, died in 1926.

Mr. Gentzler was born near Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. He moved to Kansas with his parents in 1878 and in 1910 he and his family came to a farm near Liberal where they resided until 1920. He retired at that time and he and his wife have been living in Liberal.

Funeral arrangements have not yet been made, but will be announced from the Miller Mortuary.
