Joannah Gentzler, was born at Three Rivers, Michigan, March 5th 1861, died at her home north of Jetmore, Kansas November 3, 1928, aged 67 years, 7 months and 28 days.

In 1883 she came to Oceola, Nebraska, where she united in marriage to U. B. Riegle August 28, 1883. To this union were born ten children, eight sons and two daughters, three of the sons dying in infancy.

In 1885 the family came to Kansas settling in Rice county, where they resided for a number of years. They came to Hodgeman county in 1917 and have resided here ever since.

Mrs. Riegle united with the Lutheran church when just a girl in Michigan and upon coming to Kansas united with the Methodist church of which church she was a member at the time of her death.

Of late years she was not able to attend church as she would have liked to do, but always lover her Lord and the church. She was very fond of playing and singing the old hymns of the church and much of her spare time in the home was thus spent. The songs that were used in the funeral services were some of her favorites.

She was a kind affectionate wife and mother as well as a good neighbor and won the love and esteem of all who knew her.

Her death came as a shock to all. It came while she was sitting in her chair on Saturday morning and she passed away without a struggle.

She leaves her husband, five sons, Logan of Lookout, Oklahoma; Roy, of Emporia Kansas; Robert of Lebanon, Earl and Jess of Jetmore; two daughters, Mrs. Edith Vonada, of Lewisburg, Pa., and Mrs. Florence Holodick, of Gary, Indiana; two brothers and one sister and thirteen grandchildren.

All the sons and one daughter were present for the funeral, Mrs. Holodick being unable to attend.

Jacob Gentzler, a brother and his family of Liberal were present.

The funeral services were held at the Methodist church in Jetmore, Wednesday November 7th, conducted by H. E. Stipe.

The sons acted as pall bearers. A mixed Quartette brought the music.

A goodly number of neighbors and friends gathered to pay their respects to one they loved.

Burial was made in Fairmount cemetery at Jetmore.

The bereaved family have the deepest sympathy of all in this their sudden loss and grief.
