A. C. Elder, Jr., age 74, of Swanson Blvd., Fayetteville, died Thursday (June 28, 2001) in St. Thomas Hospital.
He was a native of Giles County and the son of the late A. C. Elder, Sr., and Vallie Jackson Elder. Mr. Elder was a former postmaster at the Fayetteville Post Office, where he was employed for 28 years. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church and a former member of the Civitan Club.
Survivors include his wife, Martha Ann Elder of Fayetteville; son, Tripp Elder of Rogersville; two daughters, Sue Carol Lane of Fayetteville and Emily Arnold of Murfreesboro; one brother, Joe Elder of Austin, Texas; five granddaughters and one grandson; two great-granddaughters, and two great-grandsons; and one niece, Barbara Roland of Fayetteville. Graveside services were held Friday afternoon at Riverview Memorial Gardens with the Rev. Allen Black officiating.
Memorials may be made to the First United Methodist Church. Higgins Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
