Mr. Barnes
Harley William Barnes, 65, of Canton, died Thursday, unexpectedly, at Haywood County Hospital.
He was a maintenance worker for the Cherokee County, GA. school system.
He was a native of Macon County, where he had worked 15 years for Ziegraf Hardware Co. in Franklin. He was a member of Buck Creek Baptist Church of Highlands and attended Spring Hill Baptist Church of Canton.
Services were held Monday in the Bryant Funeral Home Chapel, Rev. Frank Reed officiated. Burial was at Buck Creek Baptist Church Cemetery.
Pallbearers were: Earlin Barnes, Gary Barnes, Danny Barnes, and Bud Oxford.
Surviving are his wife, Oma R Barnes, of the home; two sons, Howard Barnes of Colorado Springs, CO; and Boyd Barnes of Canton; one daughter, Helen Neal, of Canton; his mother, Mae Barnes of Franklin; three brothers, Everett and Gordon Barnes of Highlands; and Jarvis Barnes of Franklin; one sister, Mrs Hilliard (Lottie) Houston, of Franklin; 13 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
Bryant Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
