Doris Kappelman Bridges

Doris Kappelman, 96, passed away on Tuesday, December 18, 2012
at Kings Mountain Hospice House.

Born in Mason City, Iowa on February 15, 1916, she was the daughter of the late William and Gertrude Elliott Kappelman. Doris worked in Washington DC during WWII at the Naval Research Laboratory as an Administrator. After retirement, she moved to Shelby with her husband Clarence in 1980. She had many hobbies during her 36 year retirement, but what meant the most to her was collecting dolls. She devoted significant time to her church, Boiling Springs Baptist, as well as to charities and non-profit organizations. She also enjoyed needlepoint and cake decorating.

Doris is survived by her son, Edgar W. Bridges and wife Suzanne of San Antonio, TX; grandchildren, Emily J. Bridges and Andrew J. Bridges.

A celebration of life service will be held at 11:00am on Saturday, December 29, 2012 at Boiling Springs Baptist Church. Dr. Carroll Page will be officiating. The family will receive friends immediately following the service in the sanctuary.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be sent to St. Jude Children's Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN, 38105.
