He loved hunting, fishing, outdoor enthusiast, cards, prospecting, and most important was his wife and family. He was a member of the LDS church and also supported the local law enforcement and fire departments. He was a Miner and was a Laborer for Labor Union 295 for over 40 years.
Stewart was preceded in death by his parents, all his siblings, his wife Hazel of 59 years, his son Stewart L. Gates, an infant son George Gates and 3 grandchildren.
He is survived by his son Duane (Sally) Gates of Payson, UT, and his daughter Annell (Randy) Fearn of Evanston, WY.
Funeral Services will be held Thursday, February 25th, 2010, at 11 am at the Walker Family Mortuary, 85 East 300 South, Provo, UT. A viewing will be held Wednesday, February 24th from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. at the mortuary and prior to the funeral from 9:45-10:45 a.m. Interment will be in the Springville Evergreen Cemetery.
