Mary Boscawen was born abt. 20 Jan,1552 in Penkivel, Cornwall, England to Hugh Boscawen and Phillippa (Carminowe)Boscawen. Mary was Christened abt. 20 January,1552. Mary married Peter Coffyn(Coffin) in 1560, Brixton, Devonshire, England. Mary was a 11th generation descendant of Boscawens and Carminowe's that led back to Roger Carminowe, Roger Carminowe held a Knight's Fee in 1173 AD and was a Witness in 1220. Mary was buried at the church of St. Michael, St. Michael Penkivel, Tresillian, Truro, Cornwall--Postal Code TR24AJ, between Falmouth and Truro, and about 40 miles from Plymouth, Cornwall. The church is small and usually open and unattended. Mary is buried beneath the floor, her grave marked by a 17th century brass plate, which shows a full body likeness of her and states;(see attached scan.)"HERE LYETH THE BODY OF MARIE THE WIDDOW OF PETER COFFIN GENT & 4TH DAUGHTER OF HUGH BOSCAWEN OF TREGOTHNAN ESQ WHO DYED YE 4TH DAY OF SEPTEMBER 1622 AGED 71 YEARES" Peter Coffin, the husband of Mary Boscawen died in 1605 in St. Mawgen, Cornwall. He left a will in which he gave legacies to his nephew a goddaughter and several other people. The remainder to his wife Mary but did not mention any children at all. This would indicate that he had no children. He also states that he was born and christened in Pelynt, Cornwall.
