He was born in Brooklyn, New York on
June 4, 1930. When he was a teenager, he
moved to Spokane with his mother. His
mother married Gene DeLuca in Walla
Walla where he attended school and graduated
from Wa-Hi in 1947. He served in the
Navy and received an honorable discharge.
He owned his own business and had a variety of jobs before going to work at the State Penitentiary, for 20 years, in transportation. He retired after the death of his wife, Edith of 40 years. He met married Caroline Conrad Bannister in 2003. He enjoyed his retirement years gambling, fishing and hanging out with his friends at the Poplar Street Donut Shop. He loved going out to eat and he especially loved the Olive Garden.
He loved his family and grandchildren. He is survived by his wife, Caroline of 8 years; his brothers, Louis (Shirley)DeLuca, Donald (Mary) DeLuca; a sister, Marguerite (Bennie)Daltoso; his children, daughter Shirley (Alford) Harper; son,George (Toni) Bunce; daughter Terri Mellish; son Rick (Traci)Russo; six grandchildren; six great grandchildren and numerous nieces nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Henry Carolina Russo; his first wife, Donna Jo; infant son, Richard Russo Jr.; his second wife, Edith Russo and their son, Louis Bunce.
Viewing visitation will be held on Tuesday, June 14, 2011 from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM at the Herring Groseclose Funeral Home, 315 W. Alder, Walla Walla. The Rosary will be
held on Wednesday, June 15, 2011 at 6:00 PM also at the funeral home. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Thursday,June 16, 2011 at 10:00 AM at Assumption Catholic Church with Father Tim Hays, Officiant. Vault interment will follow at Mountain View Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Walla Walla Community Hospice or St. Mary Regional Cancer Center through the funeral home.
