Elvabelle Hilst, 62, of 302 S. Pear, Manito, IL, died at 3:45 a.m. Saturday, August 28, 1993 at Pekin Hospital in Pekin, IL.

Born March 4, 1931 in Pekin to Nelson and Loma Bailey Golden, she married Harold G. Hilst on March 26, 1949, in Spring Lake Township, Tazewell County. He survives.

Also surviving are three sons, Randy Nelson of Pekin, James Harold of Manito and Steven Ray of Steger; one daughter, Ruth Alice Messman of Manito; one brother, Duane Golden of Manito; one sister, Loma Alice Burks of Manito; 11 grandchildren; and one great-grandson. Two brothers preceded her in death.

She worked at Caterpillar until 1949, she then worked at American Distilling Company.

She was a member of Community United Methodist Church of Manito, its United Methodist Women Group and Manito Historical Society. She also was named Manito Area Chamber of Commerce Mother of the Year in 1993.

Services were held at Preston-Hanley Funeral Home, Pekin Chapel, Rev. Becky Dees-McMahon officiating.

Burial was in Meadow Lawn Cemetery in Manito, IL.
