Harley Ray Frankliin, 82, Topeka, died Thursday, July 29, 1999, at a Topeka hospital. Mr. Franklin had been a grain operator in Topeka. He was employed by Christenson Produce of Topeka until retiring in 1973. He was born Aug. 3, 1916, in Orleans, Neb., the son of Thomas Marion and Katherine McCarthey Franklin. He had lived in Topeka most of his life. He married Ruby Jewell Morgan on Jan. 13, 1952 in Lipton, Texas. She died Dec. 29, 1996. He also was preceded in death by two sons, Francis Michael Frankin and Harley Ray Franklin, Jr., and a daughter, Hana Franklin. Survivors include three sons, Tommy Franklin, Jackie Franklin and Jimmy Franklin, all of Topeka; two daughters, Janie Schnegelsiepen and Emma J. Smith, both of Topeka; 12 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Davidson Funeral Home. Burial will be in Rochester Cemetery. Mr. Franklin will be in state from noon to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home, where the family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. Tuesday. The family suggests memorials to Boys Town of Omaha, sent in care of Davidson Funeral Home. Note: Marriage license states date of marriage as March 24, 1961.
