Mary was the daughter of Joseph LaFountain and Ida Linebeck.

The 1900 census revealed Mary was a servant living in the Lillie household in Orleans, Jefferson Co, New York. Her birth date is listed as April 1882 She states her father was born in French Canada her mother was born in New York. Household members: Clinton Lillie (27), Lulu Lillie (27), Leon Lillie (4), Mary La Fountan (18) and Delonna Ducklou (21).

Frank Boyd was about twenty-five and Mary LaFountain was about twenty when they married in about 1904.

The 1910 census revealed they were living in Orleans, Jefferson Co, New York. Frank was a Dairy Farmer. They had been married 6 years, had 3 children 2 still living. Household members: Frank C Boyd (29), Mary Boyd (26), Harold M Boyd (4) and Gladys I Boyd (2).

{{Mrs. Mary Boyd dies - Mrs. Mary LaFountain Boyd 84, widow of Frank Boyd of Evans Mills and a retired cook, died at 2 Monday afternoon at the family home, 361 Keyes Avenue after a long illness. She was 84 on Saturday.

Mrs. Boyd had been ill since suffering a stroke on Dec 19, 1964. Other strokes followed from time to time. She had been confined to her bed the past two weeks.

Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Ethel H. Hall, 361 Keyes Avenue; three sons, Harold M. Boyd, Great Bend, Kansas, William C. Boyd, 1122 Holcomb Street and Francis W. Boyd, 315 West Main Street, and nine grand children.

Five other children are dead. They were; Mrs. Edmond J. (Grace M.) LaFave, who died July 2, 1955 at the age of 43; Sgt. Donald R. Boyd, WWII Veteran, who died in a Utica Hospital at the age of 25 on September 16, 1944; Mrs. Carl F. (Gladys I.) Brady, who died here at the age of 50 on June 8, 1958; Mrs. James (Anna May) Costa) of Syracuse who died in that city May 15, 1959 at the age of 49, and Mrs. Taylor L. (Mildred P.) Denison of Livermore, California who died in Burbank, California on December 3, 1962 at the age of 40.

Mrs. Boyd was born at Omar April 27, 1884, a daughter of Joseph and Ida La Fountain. She was married to Frank Boyd about 1904 and they lived on farms at various places, including Plessis, La Fargeville, Mexico and Evans Mills.

Mr. Boyd died at Evans Mills in April 1925. In 1927 Mrs. Boyd moved to this city and she has since resided here. She was employed at one time as a cook at Crandlall's restaurant on Mill Street and later was a pastry cook at the American Hotel. She retired years ago.

The funeral will be Thursday at 10 a.m. at the Simpson Funeral Home with Rev. John B Smiley, Pastor of the First Presbyterian Church, officiating. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery, Theresa.

Friends may call at the funeral home tonight from 7-9 and Wednesday from 2-4 and 7-9.}}
