Lewis L Rinehart, 74, of Ontario, Ohio, one of Richland County's best known and most active citizens for the past 5 decades, died last night at General Hospital of emphysema, a lung ailment. He had been hospitalized for two weeks.

Born in Morrow County, he had operated Rinehart Manor Dairy Farm in Sandusky Twp for 35 years. In 1948 he turned it's operation over to two sons and entered the insurance business. At that time he moved to Springfield Twp where he was an active member of the Ontario Methodist Church for 45 years. Lewis was a honorary member of the Ohio State Fair Managers Assoc and one of the organizers of the Richland County Soil Conservation Service. He served four 5 year terms on the Richland County Health Board and served as chairman of the joint City-County Health Council.

Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Gertrude Rinehart; three sons, Oliver of Mansfield, Jay of Galion, and Vaughn of Sweetwater, TN; three daughters, Mrs. Robert (Alice) Walker, Mrs. Robert (Ilo) Burger, both of Mansfield, Mrs. Warren (Sylvia) Eckstein of Crestline; 18 grandchildren; five great-granddaughters. One granddaughter, Bonita Rinehart, preceded him in death. Three sisters, Mrs. William (Ethel) Smith of Greenbay, WI, Mrs. J.B. Squires of Lexington, Mrs. Gifford Schonauer of Mansfield; four brothers, Ralph of Mansfield, Cromer of Johnsville, Lyle of Willard and Cover of Shelby.

Internment will be in Ontario Cemetery.
