Elfida Tapia Howard, 72, of Pecos, Texas, passed away December 17, 2012 in an Odessa hospital, surrounded by her family.
A rosary service will be held on Thursday, December 20, 2012 at 7:30 p.m. at Pecos Funeral Home. Funeral services will be Friday, December 21, 2012 at 10:00 a.m. at the Santa Rosa Church with burial in Mount Evergreen Cemetery.
She was born October 29, 1940 in Casa Piedra, TX. Elfida graduated from Pecos High School in 1957. She married Calvin Howard on November 3, 1962. They celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary recently. She followed her husband Calvin all over the world while he served in United States Army for 23 years. A few years after Calvin retired from the Army they moved back to Pecos. She worked at Water Works for about 20 years. She loved working and visiting with people. She loved to travel with here husband and family whenever she could. Elfida also loved to watch sports, it didn't matter what the sport was. She was a huge Cowboys fan. Elfida loved her family and always enjoyed her house being filled with laughter from her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
She is survived by her husband Calvin Howard of Pecos, TX, her sons Charlie Howard of Big Spring, TX, and David Howard and wife Marlene of Elgin, OK, her grandchildren Michael, Tiffany, Jessica, Derek and Isabelle, her great grandchildren Ian, Iran and Emiri, here sisters Elida Leonard and husband Jim, and Eva Martinez and husband Adam of Pecos, TX; numerous nieces and nephews, and many other family and friends.
Elfida was preceded in death by her father and mother Roman and Helen Tapia, and her brother Manuel Tapia. Services are under the direction of Pecos Funeral Home.
