• Son of Albert Broadhead and Ella Ward, both of England.
• Married to Gertrude Hartley, both immigrating to Canada in 1907 onboard the ship Pretorian.
• Served with the 120th Battalion 'C' Company upon enlistment in 1915, was transferred to the 134th Battalion when arrived in England, and finally to the 3rd Battalion, 1st Central Ontario Regiment in France
• Was wounded in the field in late August 1917 with a GSW (shrapnel wound) to left knee resulting in discharge from military service.
• While with the 3rd Battalion, served as a 'Gunner'.
