MRS. M FURLONG, LONG TIME HAVRE RESIDENT PASSES.

--From the Havre Daily News Promoter 16 May 1930

Mrs. Martin Furlong, 73, a resident of Havre since 1891, died at a local hospital early this morning, failing to recuperate from a recent operation
She had been in ill health for some time, and in the past several month, had been confined to her bed most of the time. She became seriously ill in the past week and was advised that an operation would be necessary in an effort to save her life. She revived briefly after the operation, but soon began to have sinking spells from which she failed to recover.
Mrs. Furlong was born in County Carlow, Ireland in 1857. She came to the United States in 1874 and to Montana in 1891. She has been a resident in Havre since that time. For a while, she was employed at Fort Assinniboine. Her husband passed away here in 1913.
She is survived by seven children, Mary (Mrs. Chris Wheeler), Ann (Mrs. H L Short), Kathryn (Mrs. R. Keith), Thomas. Edward, Lawrence, and Martin.
Funeral services will be conducted Saturday at 2 p.m.from the Saint Mark's Episcopal church with burial being in the Highland Cemetery.

According to her death certificate, she was buried in this cemetery on 17 May 1930, but the cemetery (on FAG) does not contain a record of her. The spelling of her first name is unsure. It may be Catherine or Kathryn since a couple of descendents spelled theirs that way. She was always called Kate or Katie.

Martin and Kate Doyle Furlong had 8 children:
1. Edward Russel Furlong 1882-1949
2. Lawrence Furlong 1884-1961
3. Anastacia Anna Furlong 1886-1967
4. James Furlong 1887-1911
5. Mary A. Furlong 1888-
6. Lela Kathryn Furlong 1890-1957
7. Martin Furlong 1892-
8. Thomas Furlong 1894-1980
