The Inmans of Atlanta were among the richest families of the new South. The home that Edward and Emily Inman built was one of the grandest in the city.
Unfortunately, Edward Inman only lived there for three years, dying in 1931.

Emily Inman continued to live in the house until her death in 1965. Before her death, she arranged for the house to be sold to the Atlanta History Center. The cost was half a million dollars, and included the 20+ acres surrounding it.

Later, the Inman estate became known as The Swan House due to the swans decor found throughout the home. It has appeared in many books and is often referred to as one of the classic houses of America.
