Groton: Allen McCaffrey, age 83, of Groton died Sunday, December 30, at the Hospicare Residence. He was a retired member of the Local 272, Plumbers and Steam Fitters Union and was a longtime area resident. He served honorably in the US Army in Okinawa. Survivors include his wife, Kathleen; children, Laurie and Margaret McCaffrey, Frank, Ronald and James C. Bindhammer; a daughter-in-law, Shawn Bindhammer; grandchildren, Nicholas Crans, Lukas Cowart, Steven, J.R., Amanda, A.J. and Nolan Bindhammer and Michael Perry; many great-grandchildren; and a brother, Robert McCaffrey. Funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, January 3, 2013, at the Perkins Funeral Home. Burial will be in St. Anthony's Cemetery. Friends are invited to call from 12 Noon to 1 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home, 55 West Main St., Dryden, NY.
