He enlisted in the U. S. Army on April 14, 1917, and served in the 1st Division, 18th Infantry, during World War I until discharged on September 5, 1919.
Cornell was a loving husband to Christella Coyle Stortecky of Nelson County, Kentucky, and together they lived in their home at 5117 W. 32nd Street, in Cicero, Illinois. The couple had no children.

Cornell Stortecky Dies; Rites Tomorrow

Cornell Stortecky, 57, of 5117 W. 32nd st., a resident of the community for 23 years, died Monday at Hines Hospital after a long illness. He was a member of Kenneth Copley Post, VFW.

Interment in Queen of Heaven Cemetery will follow a requiem Mass tomorrow morning at 9:30 at Mary Queen of Heaven Church. His body is at the Classen Funeral Home, 5704 Cermak rd. His wife, Christella, survives him.
