Burlington [Vt.] Free Press, 13 Oct. 1857: "Mr. Follett's funeral, we are requested to state, will take place tomorrow, Wednesday, at half-past 10 o'clock a.m. from the residence of Capt. N.A. Tucker."
Burlington [Vt.] Free Press, 23 Oct. 1857: "Death of Hon. Timothy Follett.--The Hon. Timothy Follett, for many years a leading businessman of Burlington, and a prominent politician, died in this place, on Monday evening of last week. To him, probably more than to any other man, is Vermont indebted for the construction of the Rutland and Vermont R.R., and to his connection with this enterprise is mainly attributed the loss of a large fortune, which so weighed upon his mind, as gradually to prostrate his intellect and physical powers, and sink to him to [the] helplessness of a child. Mr. Follett was a public-spirited man, and aided greatly in making Burlington the largest and most prosperous commercial town in Vermont. His age was about 66 [sic] years."
