She was born in New York City. She worked for many years for the New York City Board of Education, and was involved with numerous Jewish and community organizations.
She was predeceased by her brother, Leonard Lax. She is survived by her husband of 62 years, Howard Pike; a son, Michael Pike of Flushing; three daughters, Linda Hollander of Fayetteville, NY, Nancy Kreinik of Scarsdale, NY and Nadyne Pike of Manhattan; seven grandchildren; a great-granddaughter and a brother, Sheldon Lax of Lake Worth, FL.
