Carl H. Draude, Jr., 85, of Lancaster, PA, passed away on Wednesday, January 16, 2013 at Hospice and Community Care in Lancaster.

He was the husband of Regina D. Liebl Draude, with whom he shared 34 years of marriage this past October 21st. Born in Lancaster, he was the son of the late Carl H., Sr. and Mabel J. Hegener Draude.

Carl had worked for Armstrong World Industries for more than 36 years, retiring in 1989 from the Research and Development location on Columbia Ave.

He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, where he was a member of the church choir.

Very proud of his German heritage, he was a longtime member of Lancaster Liederkranz, where he and his wife sang in the Chorus. He faithfully served the Society in many capacities, such as the Board of Trustees, Newsletter Editor, and Membership Chairman. For his tireless and diligent work, he was awarded Honorary Membership. His love of music was further perpetuated by his many years of service as Recording and Corresponding Secretary for the Nordostlicher Sangerbund (NSOB), a confederation of German Choral Societies in the Mid-Atlantic Region of the US.

He enjoyed gardening, loved to read, and knew everything there was to know about the history of Cabbage Hill and loved to reminisce about its past. He was a graduate of Lancaster Catholic High School.

A US Army veteran, Carl had been stationed in Germany during the Korean War, serving as a Corporal in the Corps of Engineers.

In addition to his wife, Regina, he is survived by his siblings: Eugene F. married to Peg Draude of Lancaster, Geraldine L. married to Jay Meiskey of Millersville, Josephine A. married to Thomas Kingree of Mendham, NJ, and Genevieve C. married to Robert Krause of Millersville. He was preceded in death by his brother John E. Draude and his sister Rosemarie Laukhuff.
