New Douglas, Ill.--John Eilers, 73, retired farmer, dropped dead last night at 11:50 o'clock at his home near here. An inquest was to have been conducted today by Deputy Coroner Hugo Latowsky. Funeral arrangements have not been completed.
Mr. Eilers was born May 9, 1862, in Oldenburg, Germany, coming to America when ten years of age. He leaves his widow, Mrs. Katherine Trauernicht Eilers, and the following sons and daughters, Albert, William and Henry Eilers, New Douglas; Mrs. Sophia Volz, Alhambra; Herman Eilers, Mrs. Anna Coalson of Staunton; Mrs. Margaret Schilling, LaMars, Ia., one brother, Henry Eilers of St. Charles, and several grandchildren.
