Obituary from the Edwardsville Intelligencer (Edwardsville, Madison County, Illinois), Tuesday, July 5, 1949:
   Mrs. Catharina Eilers passed away Sunday at 9 p.m. at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Anna Coalson, in Staunton of complications.
   She was born feb. 8, 1864, in Lebanon and had attained the age of 84 years, four months and 25 days. She was the daughter of the late Albert and Marianna Trauernight. She was married to John Eilers on March 19, 1884, in New Douglas. He preceded her in death in 1936.
   She is survived by four sons, Henry, Albert and William of New Douglas and Herman Eilers of Staunton, three daughters, Mrs. Sophia Dolz of Alhambra, Mrs. Anna Coalson of Staunton and Mrs. Margaret Schilling of New Douglas, one brother, John Trauernicht of New Douglas, one sister, Mrs. Mollie Hobbie of Litchfield, 23 grandchildren and 26 great grandchildren.
   Friends may call at the Gerlt funeral home in Litchfield. The body will be brought to Immanuel Lutheran church at 12 o'clock noon Wednesday to lie in state until 2 o'clock (CST) when services will be held with the E.F. Klingersmith officiating.
   Interment will be in the New Douglas cemetery.
