Obituary Of Elizabeth Hootman
Elizabeth R. Hootman was born in New Hagerstown, Carroll county, Ohio, July 10, 1840, passed away Dec. 4, 1915, at 2 a.m., at her home in Mt. Zion, Iowa. She was the second child of Doctor John L. and Ella Forbes Ager. After her father's death, her mother came with her family to Iowa in 1857, and settled near Mt. Zion, Mrs. Hootman was first united in marriage to James Robison, June 12, 1883. Mr. Robison died May 4, 1894. On November 28, 1899, she was united in marriage to Joseph Hootman, who died June 11, 1912. The deceased had no children. She united with the Presbyterian church of Mt. Zion in 1866, and lived a devoted life till death claimed her. She leaves two brothers, James A. Ager of Kibbey, Oklahoma, and Albert Ager of Mt. Zion. Also three nieces and six nephews and a large number of relatives, friends and neighbors who mourn her demise. Funeral services were held in the Mt. Zion Presbyterian church, Sunday Dec. 5 at 2 p.m. Rev. A. D. Rundell, her pastor, having charge. the choir, assisted by a male quartet, furnished the singing. Her nephews were the pallbearers. Burial in Forbes cemetery, between Mt. Zion and Keosauqua.
